Product Description

SEIRE WP 150 is a single-component, colored, water-based, aliphatic polyurethane polymer dispersion-based elastic waterproofing membrane. It is resistant to color changes caused by weather conditions and UV rays without the need for additional protection. The membrane’s elasticity is permanent, allowing it to tolerate movements in the substrate even at very low temperatures. It is available in white, gray, and red colors. After curing, it is vapor permeable, breathable, and resistant to frost and weather conditions. It is environmentally friendly, solvent-free, and has low VOC content.

Application

It is used for waterproofing in roofs and terraces that are not exposed to pedestrian traffic.

  • In new buildings
  • In the renovation and restoration of systems like worn-out and malfunctioning granulated bituminous covering systems
  • For waterproofing roof coverings
  • For protecting PU foams
  • On flat terraces with zero slope
  • In vertical waterproofing applications

Frequently Asked Questions About Polyurethane Waterproofing Membranes

What is a polyurethane waterproofing membrane?

A polyurethane waterproofing membrane is a protective coating applied to surfaces to prevent water infiltration. It is made from polyurethane polymers that form a durable, elastic barrier, providing resistance against moisture, chemicals, and environmental factors.

What are the benefits of using water-based polyurethane waterproofing membranes?

Water-based polyurethane waterproofing membranes offer several benefits including low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, ease of application and cleanup with water, excellent adhesion to various substrates, high elasticity to accommodate substrate movement, and resistance to UV radiation and weather conditions.

How does a waterproofing membrane work?

A waterproofing membrane works by creating a continuous, impermeable barrier on the surface it is applied to. This barrier prevents water from penetrating the substrate, protecting the underlying structure from moisture damage, corrosion, and deterioration.

What surfaces can polyurethane waterproofing membranes be applied to?

Polyurethane waterproofing membranes can be applied to a variety of surfaces including concrete, metal, wood, masonry, and existing waterproofing systems. They are suitable for both horizontal and vertical applications, making them versatile for different construction and renovation projects.

Can polyurethane waterproofing membranes be used outdoors?

Yes, polyurethane waterproofing membranes are suitable for outdoor applications. They offer high resistance to UV radiation, moisture, frost, and harsh weather conditions, making them ideal for roofs, terraces, balconies, and other exposed surfaces.

What is the shelf life of polyurethane waterproofing membranes?

The shelf life of polyurethane waterproofing membranes is typically around 12 months when stored properly in their original, unopened packaging. They should be kept in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to maintain their effectiveness.

How should polyurethane waterproofing membranes be stored?

Polyurethane waterproofing membranes should be stored in their original, unopened containers in a dry, cool environment with temperatures between 5°C and 25°C. They should be kept away from frost, direct sunlight, and heat sources to prevent degradation and extend their shelf life.

What is the drying and curing time for polyurethane waterproofing membranes?

The drying and curing time for polyurethane waterproofing membranes can vary depending on the product and environmental conditions. Generally, the membrane becomes touch dry within several hours and achieves full cure within 7 days. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for precise drying and curing times.

Are polyurethane waterproofing membranes environmentally friendly?

Water-based polyurethane waterproofing membranes are more environmentally friendly compared to solvent-based alternatives due to their lower VOC emissions. They are safer for both the environment and the applicator. Additionally, being solvent-free, they reduce the risk of harmful chemical exposure during application.

How elastic are polyurethane waterproofing membranes and why is elasticity important?

Polyurethane waterproofing membranes are highly elastic, allowing them to stretch and accommodate movements in the substrate without cracking or losing their waterproofing properties. This elasticity is crucial for areas subjected to structural shifts, temperature changes, and mechanical stress, ensuring long-term durability and protection.

Can polyurethane waterproofing membranes be tinted or colored?

Yes, polyurethane waterproofing membranes can be tinted or colored using compatible pigments or dyes. This allows for customization of the membrane’s appearance to match specific aesthetic requirements or to provide additional functionality, such as slip resistance.
